The role of a Sydney funeral director starts when the family of a deceased person hires his services. Being a funeral director, he sees to it that the bereaved family is having no hassle in the things related to funeral procedure. This is the most crucial role that the funeral director would be having because when he will not be able to facilitate it well, the dead body would emit its bad odour once the number of days of the wake exceeds the amount of the embalming chemical and has not been acted on immediately.

A Sydney funeral director organizes the people of the funeral home that he has in dispose of for some errands and needed services. He organizes what each personnel should do like in who will do the embalming, the cosmetizing, the casketing, who will prepare the venue of the wake, and as well as on who will man the facilities inside the wake room and assist the needs of the family of the dead person. He also organizes the schedule of the funeral ceremony, what time the hearse should arrive, and as well as prepare the final resting place of the dead.

Although it is the first time that the Sydney funeral director met the family, he should have the character and attitude to show compassion as a friend. Through being responsible and reliable to the bereaved family, he can show to them, that everything is being taken cared of, and that they could feel that he can be a friend to them in times when they needed support, especially if the only direct family are the only ones there. Having another person who could be just like a friend to them could really help them a lot.
